Warped Nature home page

My weaving draws its inspiration from the beauty of the natural world. I aim to capture the colours and textures of the landscape and wildlife in natural yarns and subtle colours. My recent work takes inspiration from the Tyninghame Estuary, in the Firth of Forth.

I work from photographs and field sketches, developing my designs with more drawing and painting, computer aided design, yarn wraps and short experimental warps.

I use mainly vegetable yarns. I try to source yarns produced using techniques with low environmental impact.

I use simple weave structures, let the materials speak for themselves, and allow the properties of the yarns to enhance the designs and contribute to the inspiration.
